Darebin multi-arts FUSE Festival

The Darebin multi-arts FUSE Festival is set to immerse families into art, culture and creativity. This year’s program has a huge range of family-friendly events to engage and inspire children, parents and carers. The Festival will run from 13–29 March 2020 at various locations.

FUSE Opening Party

FUSE Opening Party is a free event inviting families and community to gather in the heart of Preston on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people for a performance by the Djirri Djirri Dance Group, food trucks, bars, music, and as night falls, a major projection project: Tapestry, featuring new projection works from five local artists illuminating the Preston Library and surrounds.

Alphington Show

The Alphington Show will bring the country to the city. Families can enjoy the Dog Show, petting zoo, face painting and many crafty activities. You can also compete to win one of the show titles such as Best Sponge Cake, Jar of Pickles, Arrangement of Flowers or Woodwork (entry $1 per category).

Keon Spark

Keon Park Children’s Hub will come alive with a brand-new family day called Keon Spark. The day will be filled with fun activities including circus, art and craft workshops, storytelling, kite flying and performances.

There will be a field of talking see-saws in PIVOT, a workshop to create a beautiful cardboard installation with Strange Garden, a self-portrait flag-making workshop in This is Me, Bunting, and traditional Aboriginal coil weaving workshops and storytelling in Emu Weaving Story, as well as Market by Kids, an art and craft market with goods handmade and sold by local primary school students.

Darebin’s Backyard Harvest Festival is part of Darebin FUSE Festival for the first time. The Festival has backyard garden tours and workshops to get you inspired to grow your own fresh healthy food.

Productive Gardening with Kids

Productive Gardening with Kids is run by Reservoir dad Chad and daughter Poppy who will open their yard for a hands-on workshop teaching young children where food comes from and how to grow their own.

Bee a Pollinator

Families can try their hand at making a bee-friendly hotel at the Bee a Pollinator! Native Bee Workshop is designed to bring joy and wonder to children as they discover insect biodiversity and urban sustainability on a micro level in the garden.
