Myer Christmas Windows in Melbourne 2020

The Myer Christmas Windows in Melbourne has been a Christmas tradition for 65 years. Many families look forward to seeing the Myer windows, visiting Santa and enjoying the city Christmas ambience.

This year, with the backdrop of the COVID pandemic lockdown, the Myer Christmas Windows came very, very close to being cancelled. Planning for the windows usually takes 7 to 12 months, so it is a Christmas miracle that this years’ theme “Christmas is Uncancelled” was selected, planned and installed in just 3 months!

The book selection “Christmas is Uncancelled” is written by award-winning author Corinne Fenton and narrated by Eddie Perfect.

The story starts with a message travelling the world that Christmas is cancelled and that Santa’s Workshop is in lockdown. Santa and his elves are stuck in the North Pole unable to deliver presents. As word travels to Melbourne, family and friends unite to save Christmas with the help of flying magical trams and reindeer. So Melbourne!

My little boy started to get upset walking through the early displays because he didn’t think Santa was going to come this year! He was smiling by the end, so make sure you make it to the last display.
