Sydney Opera House online hub – ‘For the Kids’

The Sydney Opera House has launched an online creative hub called ‘For the Kids’ in the aim to inspire, educate and entertain kids while at home.

The hub contains creative resources and hands-on activities including behind-the-scenes videos, how-to tutorials, classical music playlists, author talks and craft workshops. New content will be released each week, so be sure to check the Sydney Opera House website for more details.

Program highlights include:

David Walliams: Author Talk

David Walliams’ books have revolutionised reading for children. Enjoy a special pre-recorded talk with David Walliams that focuses on Walliams’ hilarious and touching fable Billionaire Boy. Kids can also download activity sheets based on Walliams’ stories:
Activity 1 – Naughty Stories
Activity 2 – Ripping & Tearing Characters
Suitable for ages 6+

George meets the orchestra

Chatting with members of the Sydney Youth Orchestra, George learns all about the four families of musical instruments that make up an orchestra – strings, brass, woodwind and percussion.

Teaching resources

The Sydney Opera House has a full suite of teaching resources spanning across English, Drama and Music for students learning in the classroom or at home. Parents at home can also access this.
