BOX MACHINE!

Step into a world of creativity and imagination with BOX MACHINE!, a large-scale interactive exhibition designed for children and their adults. Created by Melbourne artists Mischa Long from Polyglot Theatre and Ross Koger, founder of Box Wars, this hands-on experience transforms the historic Magdalen Laundry at the Abbotsford Convent into a playground of oversized cardboard machines.

Children can connect, deconstruct, and reimagine giant rollers, pipes, cogs, and taps, using them like enormous building blocks. These once-redundant machines become tools for endless creative reconstructions, inspiring young minds to bring the space to life with their imaginative play.

BOXY HEAD!
Join artist Ross Koger for BOXY HEAD!, a school holiday program where kids can create their own unique costumes from precision-cut cardboard pieces. With mix-and-match headpieces and funky outfits, kids aged 12 and under can design wearable masterpieces and take them home to showcase their one-of-a-kind creations.

DANCE BOX!
Kids aged 12 and under (grown-ups are welcome too!) can take centre stage in DANCE BOX!, a vibrant dance program within the world of BOX MACHINE! Children can craft their dream costumes, rehearse an energetic short performance with Melbourne choreographer Sarah Aiken, and bring the boxy landscape to life. Performances will feature loud, playful music and a dynamic machine world, perfect for friends and family to enjoy.
