John Frost for Crossroads Live is thrilled to announce the Australian debut of the much-loved musical Sister Act, set to arrive at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne in November 2024.
Based on the iconic film starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act features original music by Tony® and eight-time Oscar® award-winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted, The Little Mermaid), with songs inspired by Motown, soul, and disco. This heavenly musical is both joyous and uplifting.
The story follows disco diva Deloris, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she witnesses a murder. Placed in protective custody, she’s hidden in the last place anyone would think to look—a convent! She helps a struggling choir find their true voice while rediscovering her own.
Starring Casey Donovan as Deloris Van Cartier, Genevieve Lemon as Mother Superior, and Rhonda Burchmore as Sister Mary Lazarus, this production is graced with three of the most extraordinary talents ever to light up Australian stages.
The creative team behind Sister Act includes Alan Menken (Music), Glenn Slater (Lyrics), Cheri and Bill Steinkellner (Book), Bill Buckhurst (Director), Alistair David (Choreographer), Morgan Large (Set & Costume Design), Stephen Brooker (Musical Supervision), Tim Mitchell (Lighting Design), and Tom Marshall (Sound Design).
A musical sent from above, Sister Act is a brilliant, must-see show that raises spirits and warms the soul time after time.
