The Lark

Beloved star of stage and screen Noni Hazlehurst takes centre stage in The Lark, a new work written by Daniel Keene and directed by Matt Scholten.

Rose Grey is saying her final goodbye to The Lark, a small inner-city pub in Melbourne. Closed for six months and destined for demolition as the suburb undergoes gentrification, the derelict building is far more than just a pub to Rose – it has been her whole life.

She has lived there since childhood, eventually taking over from her father as he grew older. Now in her seventies, Rose is bound to The Lark by a lifetime of memories, both bitter and sweet.

But as she prepares to leave, Rose must confront the past that has kept her trapped in a cycle of endless return. Fearing that The Lark might hold her forever in suspension, she must find the strength to wrench herself free and finally escape.
