Australian Open 2020 for Kids

The Australian Open 2020 marks the first tennis grand slam of the year and this year the kids will be thrilled with the bigger and better AO Ballpark and the new AO Hilltop. Participating in the Kids Tennis Day or ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Day is a fun way to introduce the kids to tennis.

Kids Tennis Day

Kids Tennis Day on Saturday 18 January 2020 has a wide range of activities available. In the Rod Laver Arena, the professional players will be practising giving fans an opportunity to see what a day in the life on the professional circuit is like.

Garden Square entertainment stage has live performances by Ben and Holly, Looney Tunes and The Octanauts to name a few. The AO Live Stage has acoustic music, hot shots spinning wheel with lots of prizes to win.
ANZ Tennis Hotshots gives the kids an opportunity to play tennis in scaled-down courts designed especially for kids.

Australian Open 2020 for Kids

AO Ballpark

The AO Ballpark is 4 times the size of previous years and is suitable for kids aged 1–10 years. It features a Climbing Wall, Aqua Play Park, Obstacle Course, Family Sanctuary, Zip-line, Junior Drive, Kart Racing, LEGO stage, Live Entertainment and Silent Disco DJ Dance Parties.

Kids can watch tennis throughout the precinct with ground pass access to all outdoor courts and Melbourne Arena.

AO Hilltop

Older kids will have fun at this year’s Australian Open, with the newly created AO Hilltop which has been designed for families with kids over 10. Enjoy the view from the huge 35m SkyFlyer (a paid ticket is required), get soaked in the Supersoaker Family Zone, play a game of Table Tennis, chill-out at the Giant Cabana Oasis or watch the tennis or a movie on the big screen.

ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Day

On ANZ Hot Shots Day kids can take to the smaller scaled ANZ Hot Shot Courts with the Hot Shot Coaches on hand to provide guidance and tips.

The family-friendly activities are not limited to the AO Ballpark. Beginning at Fed Square with tennis on the big screens, continuing via the Art Play outdoor playground, and extending through to the Practice Village at the eastern end of the precinct, fans can get closer to the players than ever before.

Running from 20 January–2 February 2020, the Australian Open will showcase all the familiar players including world number 1 Australia’s Ash Barty. Go Ash!
