Melbourne Christmas Festival

The Melbourne’s Christmas Festival will light up Melbourne this festive season, with much-loved favourites like the 16-metre LED Christmas tree in Federation Square, Christmas projections throughout the city, visit Santa at Santa’s House in Christmas Square and the Gingerbread Village made by chef’s from Epicure. For the first time, Carlton’s Argyle Square will transform into a free outdoor Christmas Cinema showing classic Christmas films.

Price: Free, gold coin donation for the Gingerbread Village goes towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Myer Christmas Windows

Myer has unveiled its 64th year of magical Christmas windows, with a beautiful Gumnut Babies theme from Australia’s favourite Illustrator and Author May Gibbs.

Crown Santa Faberge Egg

Christmas Spectacular at Crown

The Crown Christmas Spectacular at the Atrium has a magnificent display of festive Faberge Eggs which open to reveal animated puppets moving in time to Christmas tunes. There is also a giant-sized Christmas tree with changing colours.

Queen Victoria Market Christmas Trail

Keep the kids entertained this festive season with Queen Victoria’s annual Christmas Trail. From Sunday 1 December 2019, find the Christmas bells and gather up all 12 clues to receive a prize. Collect a trail map from the Visitor Hub in String Bean Alley.

Local community and school choirs will also bring joy to the Market with carols throughout December. Keep a lookout for Santa who will be roaming the Market sheds spreading Christmas cheer.

Flinders Quarter – Festival of Independents Christmas

The Festival of Independents is returning to Flinders Quarter from Friday 29 November 2019 to Friday 13 December 2019, bringing with it an immersive 15–day program of Christmas themed public installations, pop-ups and in-store offers.

Highlights of the 2019 Festival of Independents program include a green wonderland in Campbell Arcade, a botanical art installation from design studio Loose Leaf, live piano performances, animated Christmas selfie greetings and the opportunity to give with every purchase.

The kids will love the Animated Christmas Selfie Greetings – the perfect solution for those seeking a little selfie fun. Three colourful Australiana themed artworks, designed by La La Land, will come to life via augmented reality (AR). Each vibrant design offers a different animation and greeting via the EyeJack app. Stand in front of the (AR) artwork, snap and share. The artworks can be found at Bared Shoes on Manchester Lane, the Streetwear pop-up shop in Scott Alley and at Obus in the Cathedral Arcade.

If your kids want to write a letter to Santa, there is a Santa Mail Box located outside the Australia Post GPO 260 Elizabeth Street and one in the Docklands. There is also a Giving Box ((260 Elizabeth Street) where you can send a gift to someone less fortunate.

Melbourne Zoo Christmas Party

Grab your picnic rug and your family and friends for an evening of festive fun at Melbourne Zoo. There will be a live stage show, special keeper talks, arts and crafts, and rides for the little ones.
