KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness has arrived at the NGV International and in conjunction with this major exhibition a free immersive exhibition for kids called KAWS: Playtime has opened.
This fun-filled space features American artist KAWS’s signature character BFF and artwork referencing his popular toy-like figures.

Families are invited to explore BFF’s world through hands-on interactive experiences. The walls are lined with BFF’s royal blue and hundreds of floating BFF heads and eyes. Kids can sit inside cosy and colourful nooks throughout the play space.
Kids can draw a friend for BFF on the interactive screens – what will BFF’s friend look like? will he be happy or sad? big or small? Once the drawing is finished it can be shared by email.

Kids can let their imagination go wild with their own creative kit containing a pop-up surprise card and a set of alphabet stickers designed by KAWS.
Kids can create a video portrait to share with their friends and family by positioning themselves in front of the camera and recording. BFF’s hands and heads will track and cover your own hands and head. My son loved this area, it’s a lot of fun.
‘KAWS: PLAYTIME is an engaging and vibrant exhibition designed by KAWS specifically for children and families in celebration of the arts and self-expression.
