RIFIFI: Jean Jullien for Kidswill open at the NGV’s dedicated kids’ gallery on 3 December 2023 as part of NGV Triennial 2023. This FREE interactive exhibition is the first time French visual artist Jean Jullien has showcased his work in Australia.
Jean Jullien is well-known for his playful and quirky take on everyday life, which he portrays with bold black brushstrokes and vibrant colours. His art spans various forms, including painting, illustration, photography, video, costumes, installations, books, posters, and clothing.
RIFIFI: Jean Jullien for Kids is all about the ocean and marine life. It’s an immersive and interactive experience designed in Jullien’s distinctive style.
Kids can explore four activities: School Of Fish, Ocean Clean Up Club, Underwater Drawing Club, and the Sea Lounge. Upon entry, kids can borrow a cute fish costume from the wall for walking or swimming around each activity. At the Ocean Clean Up Club, children can grab a metal bucket to collect rubbish hidden behind coral pieces. The Underwater Drawing Club offers a fun experience where kids can colour fish and display their finished artwork on octopus tentacles. The Sea Lounge provides a relaxing area where kids can sit on starfish pillows and watch short animated videos. These activities aim to teach kids about protecting the ocean and its creatures
