The City of Melbourne’s FREE Firelight Festival is set to illuminate the New Quay Promenade, Victoria Promenade, and Harbour Esplanade in Docklands, treating families to stunning light displays and entertainment. Adding to the excitement, this year’s festival introduces the world-first ticketed underground light show, the Firelight Labyrinth, a sensory spectacular created by the renowned international lighting specialist, Mandylights.

Firelight Festival 2024

Prepare for a weekend with stunning fire performers, rhythmic African drumming, live music, and storytelling. Stay warm at the fire pits and drums, while you take in the flame jets, sculptures, and arches. This is a FREE event, no bookings are required. The full Firelight Festival program is coming soon.

Firelight Labyrinth

As part of the Firelight Festival, the ticketed Firelight Labyrinth experience will debut in Melbourne, designed by international creative lighting specialists, Mandylights. Experience a contemporary retelling of the classic tale of Theseus and the Minotaur as you navigate through three distinct rooms in the Firelight Labyrinth. This immersive journey uses cutting-edge technology and dynamic audio, accompanied by an impressive display of over 144,000 lights. Follow Theseus as he ventures into the labyrinth and confronts the Minotaur in this engaging and unforgettable experience.

Who is the event suitable for? The Firelight Labyrinth is suitable for various ages, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note that some lighting sequences will include flashing, flickering, and patterned effects, as well as strobe effects. Additionally, smoke and haze effects may be present in certain areas. Low-sensory experience sessions: Thursday 4 July (10 am), Tuesday 9 July (6 pm).
