Kids Storytime goes online

As educational services around Melbourne start closing their doors due to COVID-19, numerous online Storytime projects are popping up locally and internationally. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids to engage with Storytellers from the comfort of their home.

ABC Kids Play School Story Time

Enjoy watching some of your favourite Australian storytellers as they read much-loved children’s books on ABC Kids Play School Story Time, weekdays at 4.50 pm. Families can also listen to Storytime on ABC Kids Listen at 12–12.30 pm and 7–7.30 pm daily.

Story Time From Space

It’s an exciting time for space exploration and literacy with the help from NASA and the Center for the Advancement of Science. Kids can watch Astronauts from the International Space Station as they read popular children’s books including Max Goes to the International Space Station, The Mission to Cataria and Endeavour’s Long Journey.

Not only are Astronauts reading children’s books, but they are also conducting experiments to explore some basic science concepts in the Science Time From Space.

Oxford Owl – Professional Storytellers

Oxford Owl offers a range of storytelling videos by professional storytellers, these stories are suitable for primary school students. Enjoy watching Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo read The Odd Pet.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation streams videos featuring famous actors including Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin reading children’s books. Storyline Online is available 24 hours a day for children, parents, caregivers and educators worldwide.
