Review: Drummer Queens at Comedy Theatre, Melbourne

From the minute you step into Melbournes’ Comedy Theatre you are transported into a post-apocalyptic space, with industrial sets and drums positioned throughout the stage. Eight extremely talented Drummer Queens bring flair and vitality to the stage in an electrifying 80-minute show.

With a blend of movement and rhythm the show takes you on a fascinating journey of drumming discovery, traversing many styles of drumming and percussion instruments.

The all-female cast of percussionists come from a range of diverse drumming backgrounds, each performer has their specialty which is highlighted in their solo performances.

The show is cleverly constructed with both high impact and more subtle performances to keep the audience engaged. The show also features the use of amplified beat-boxes, drum electronics, acrobatics and an impressive tap performance.

My daughter and I left feeling empowered and inspired by what we had seen.
