Spring School Holidays Melbourne 2026: Events & Activities for Kids & Families
The Spring school holidays in Melbourne run from Monday 21 September to Friday 2 October 2026, giving families two weeks to make the most of spring and enjoy some time together.
From kids’ theatre and live shows to festivals, free activities, outdoor adventures, wildlife experiences and plenty of things to do in Melbourne and beyond, there’s something happening for kids of all ages.
We have rounded up some of the best school holiday events and activities in Melbourne, including family favourites, free things to do and a few events running into the first weekend of October, so you can start planning your school holiday days.

Children’s Weeks at Tesselaar Tulip Festival
There is plenty of family fun at Children’s Weeks during the Tesselaar Tulip Festival, with live shows including The Octonauts Present: Captain Barnacles and the Octopod Rescue in Week One and Peppa Pig in Week Two. Kids can visit the Fairy Garden, get up close with Australian wildlife, join a clog dancing workshop, enjoy the Historic Cheese Market performance, take part in craft workshops and a treasure hunt, play Dutch and garden games, ride the Tulip Train, explore market stalls and indulge in Dutch treats, all surrounded by thousands of colourful tulips and plenty of great photo opportunities.

CherryHill Blossom Festival
Enjoy a day among the beautiful cherry blossoms at the Blossom Festival, where families can wander through the orchard, enjoy live music and capture plenty of photo-worthy moments. Kids can have fun at the Kids Hub with face painting, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, story time and lawn games, with guided activities on weekends. Bring a picnic blanket and settle in amongst the blossoms, explore the stalls and food vendors on weekends, and enjoy a relaxed countryside day out with the family. Kids go free on weekdays, and furry friends are welcome too!

Wolfgang in the Stars by Circa
Blast off into space with Circa’s Wolfgang in the Stars, a music-fuelled circus adventure combining acrobatics, puppetry, live video and music.
Wolfgang has lost the final notes of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, so he builds a rocket and heads into space with his best friend, a circus bear. Along the way, they encounter asteroids, space dinosaurs and a galactic glitch that could leave them stranded light-years from home.

Monster Jam™ 2026 Stadium World Tour
Monster Jam™ 2026 Stadium World Tour is heading back to Melbourne on Saturday 3 October 2026, bringing 10 world-class drivers and their enormous 12,000-pound Monster Jam trucks to AAMI Park. Families can expect racing, huge jumps, gravity-defying stunts and plenty of action, with the tour also featuring the international debut of Power Rush™, the return of Son-uva Digger™ and a line-up of fan-favourite Monster Jam trucks.

Where is the Green Sheep?
One of Australia’s favourite children’s books is coming to life on stage at Arts Centre Melbourne these school holidays!
Join three farmers on a playful quest to find the elusive Green Sheep. Along the way, meet Blue Sheep, Red Sheep, Bath Sheep and Bed Sheep in a colourful production filled with puppetry, animation and visual theatre.

Little Blue Dot
Little Blue Dot brings puppetry, storytelling and the wonders of space to The Show Room from 23–27 September 2026. Follow Dad and Kid as they camp beneath the stars waiting for a comet that passes Earth once every 50,000 years, while exploring gravity, black holes, light years and the mysteries of the universe. Developed with astrophysicists from Monash University, this imaginative show is recommended for ages 5–12.

Room On the Broom
CDP presents Tall Stories’ Room on the Broom, adapted from the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Join the witch and her cat as they fly through the sky, picking up a helpful dog, bird and frog along the way. But when the broom snaps and a hungry dragon appears, will their new friends be able to save the day?
From the team behind The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child, this fun-filled stage show features songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3+ and their grown-ups.

RESET Festival 2026
RESET Festival will run throughout the September school holidays from 19 September to 4 October 2026, with free activities for families at Fed Square.
Kids can swap outgrown toys, books and games for something new-to-them at The Big Toy Swap on 23 September, get creative inside a cardboard forest at Paper Planet from 28 September to 2 October, and enjoy free afternoon movies on the Fed Square Big Screen, including Flipper, Free Willy and Fly Away Home. It’s a great way to enjoy some free family fun in the city while exploring sustainability, creativity and the environment.

Circus Royale at Westfield Fountain Gate
One of Australia’s longest-running travelling circuses, Circus Royale, is bringing its action-packed live production to Narre Warren from Friday 18 September to Sunday 11 October 2026. Families can expect spectacular circus acts, daring performers, comedy, incredible displays of balance and skill, and the heart-stopping Globe of Death, all under the famous Circus Royale Big Top.
