Werribee Open Range Zoo

Werribee Open Range Zoo is located 30 mins southwest of Melbourne's CBD, it offers an African adventure on more than 200 hectares. The highlight of the Zoo is the 40-minute Safari Tour that travels through the African Savannah area. Once onboard, you will learn about some of the world’s most endangered species. Try and spot the majestic giraffe, African Lion, Plains Zebra, and the Southern White Rhinoceros.

On the African River Trail search for a cheetah, hippopotamus, Vervet Monkey, Leopard Tortoise, Meerkat or the critically endangered Western Lowland Gorilla. Halfway through the African River Trail is Hippo Beach. A play space where kids can cool down as they splash around in the water play area or super-size sandpit.

Step into the beautiful Australian outback on the Australian Trail. Spot the Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Emus, Brolgas, Southern Koalas and other native animals.

Kids can also explore the Ranger Kids play area, where they can pretend to be a Zoo Keeper or a Vet to help rescue wildlife in need.
