Dinos at the Zoo

Dinos at the Zoo returns these school holidays, bringing more than 60 giant animatronic dinosaurs to life across three iconic locations — Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary. Launching on Good Friday, 3 April 2026, this large-scale outdoor experience runs through to 4 October2026 and is included free with zoo admission.

At Melbourne Zoo, families can explore the brand-new Dino Trail and come face-to-face with favourites including a towering T.Rex, Raptors and a Triceratops family. The trail is easy to navigate and well-suited to younger children, with plenty of space to move through at your own pace.

At Werribee Open Range Zoo, the experience takes on a more adventurous feel, with an Indiana Jones-inspired journey through prehistoric landscapes. Visitors will encounter smoking volcanoes, bubbling swamps, fossil dig sites and 14 large-scale dinosaurs placed throughout the trail. Dinos After Dark will also run from 11–18 April, offering an evening option for families wanting a different experience.

At Healesville Sanctuary, the Lost Sanctuary trail winds through natural bushland, with dinosaurs revealed along the path as they increase in size. Younger visitors can explore the Dino Egg Hatchery dome, while daily ranger talks such as Brachi Banter and T-Rex Tales add an educational element. A quieter Dino Doze session runs daily from 9am–10am for visitors who prefer a lower sensory experience.

Dinos at the Zoos is designed for a wide age range, combining outdoor exploration with interactive and visual elements that keep children engaged. It works well as a flexible day out during the Easter and winter school holidays, with plenty of room to explore.

Families can also take advantage of the Victorian Government’s Kids Go Free program, with children under 16 receiving free entry on weekends, public holidays and during the school holidays.
