We headed to Caulfield Racecourse to experience the DroneArt Show Melbourne presented by Fever — a candlelit outdoor concert combined with a drone light show. As someone who adores Candlelight Concerts, the idea of pairing beautiful live music with a cutting-edge drone light show immediately caught my attention. This was my first time seeing a large-scale drone show, and I was excited to witness how it would blend with a classical performance.
Held in the open air at Caulfield Racecourse, the event featured candlelit lawns and a seating area toward the back. As the sun began to set, a talented string quartet performed iconic classical works, including Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. The music was rich and moving, and it set the perfect tone for what was to come.

Initially, I was seated towards the back, but the lighting there made it harder to enjoy the full atmosphere—so I moved closer to the lawn area. From there, I could take in the full candlelight effect and enjoy a much clearer view of the musicians and sky above.
Then the real magic began—the synchronised drone light show. It started with elegant swirling patterns above the performers, then moved into stunning 3D animations that lit up the night sky. One of the standout moments was a delicate flower taking shape in the sky, followed by a bee gently flying toward it. Later, glowing owls soared overhead, and animated sequences featured a reindeer, a fox, and a swan that gracefully transformed into a ballerina. These visual elements complemented the music beautifully

The DroneArt Show was a lovely experience. With a full audience in attendance, it’s clear this is a popular event. If you are planning to go in the future, I highly recommend booking tickets for the lawn area, which offered the best views of both the performance and the drone effects. The seated area toward the back felt more limited in visibility, especially when trying to fully appreciate the musicians.
