Melbourne International Comedy Festival

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival returns with a huge line-up of family-friendly comedy, circus, magic and interactive shows, making it a great option for entertainment during the Easter and school holidays. Alongside ticketed performances across the city, families can also enjoy the free outdoor program, The (Very) Big Laugh Out at Federation Square and City Square, featuring street performers, musical comedy and physical comedy.

Tesselaar Kabloom Festival of Flowers

The Tesselaar KaBloom Festival of Flowers returns to the Dandenong Ranges these Easter school holidays, transforming 12 acres in Silvan into a vibrant sea of autumn colour. Families can wander through sweeping fields of sunflowers, salvias, marigolds and dahlias, follow dedicated photo paths, and enjoy wide-open spaces perfect for a relaxed day outdoors. Beyond the blooms, KaBloom features a Ferris Wheel with panoramic views, roving entertainment, market stalls and food trucks, plus a packed School Holiday Program including live performances and hands-on workshops. The festival also hosts its popular Easter Rabbit Hunts from 30 March to 6 April, with special Easter Bunny appearances over the long weekend.

Play School Live Concert: Humpty’s Big Celebration!

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation and CDP Theatre Producers present Play School Live Concert 2026: Humpty’s Big Celebration!, celebrating 60 years of the beloved children’s program Play School. Families are invited to join Humpty as he prepares a big show filled with singing, dancing and a little magic, but when the wheels on the bus get stuck near Old MacDonald’s farm, Humpty’s friends must come to the rescue to save the performance.

Featuring presenters Alex and Rachael and favourite toys Big Ted, Little Ted, Jemima, Kiya and Fergus, this 40-minute interactive concert is designed especially for preschoolers and their families, with plenty of familiar songs and playful moments.

Sea of Light

Step into a magical world of glowing creativity at Sea of Light, an interactive installation at Abbotsford Convent created by the acclaimed Patch Theatre. This unique experience invites children and families to explore light, art and imagination in a beautifully designed environment.

During the 30-minute journey, children receive a UV torch and become artists of light—painting and stencilling glowing patterns and steering illuminated ships that leave shimmering trails across the space. As families explore, artworks by contemporary Aboriginal visual artist Elizabeth Close appear across the sea floor in light, reflecting the deep connections between land, sea and waterways.

The experience is accompanied by a gentle soundscape created by First Nations composer Rob Edwards, blending sound and light into an immersive adventure designed especially for children aged 3+, while welcoming visitors of all ages.

Spot Live on Stage

Everyone’s favourite puppy is heading to Melbourne! Spot, the much-loved character from the books by Eric Hill, comes to life in this delightful stage show presented by CDP Kids and Salspot Ltd.

In this new adventure, Spot and his friends set off to visit Spot’s dad on the farm and meet the animals. But when they arrive, the animals have gone missing! With a little help from the audience, Spot and his friends must search the farm to find them all.

Designed especially for children aged 18 months to 7 years, this engaging production features puppetry, songs and interactive puzzles, bringing the beloved world of Spot to life on stage in a fun experience for young audiences and their families.

The Gruffalo Live on Stage

CDP presents Tall Stories’ enchanting production of The Gruffalo, based on the award-winning picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

After sell-out seasons across the world, including London’s West End and Broadway, this magical musical adaptation returns to Australia. Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood as he encounters the cunning Fox, eccentric Owl and party-mad Snake. But will the tale of the terrifying Gruffalo save Mouse from becoming dinner?

Little Food Festival 2026

The Little Food Festival 2026 is returning to Fed Square these April school holidays, and it’s completely free to attend. Designed especially for kids, this is Australia’s only food festival focused on healthy eating, sustainability and understanding where food comes from, with a strong hands-on approach so kids can learn by doing. Across two days, children can plant seedlings, learn about bees and pollination, and follow the journey from farm to table through interactive games and activities. There are also opportunities to get involved in simple cooking sessions, preparing fresh, nutritious snacks while learning about balanced meals. The festival is set up in zones including Grow, Move, Buy, Cook, Eat and Recycle, where kids can try everything from “shopping” for produce with tokens to tasting fresh fruit and learning about composting and reducing food waste.
