The Myer Christmas Windows are back for 2026, and this year families are being treated to a Disney Pixar adventure featuring Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and all their favourite Toy Story characters.
Officially unveiled on Saturday 7 November 2026, the much-loved Melbourne Christmas tradition is celebrating its 71st year, with six colourful Christmas windows bringing A Toy Story Christmas to life at the Myer Bourke Street store.

This year’s six Christmas windows follow the storyline of the Merry Christmas, Woody picture book, beginning on a busy Christmas Eve in Andy’s bedroom.
As Woody, Buzz, Jessie and their friends get busy preparing for Christmas, Woody finds himself worrying about finding the perfect gifts for everyone.
With decorations to hang, presents to wrap and a Christmas party to organise, plenty is happening in Andy’s room. But as the Christmas lights begin to sparkle and the celebrations get underway, Woody discovers that the most important gifts aren’t always the ones wrapped beneath the Christmas tree.
Instead, the story shares a lovely reminder that Christmas is about friendship, kindness, spending time together and making memories with the people we love. It’s a heartwarming message that sits at the centre of this year’s display.

There’s an enormous amount of work involved in bringing the Myer Christmas Windows to life, and this year’s Toy Story display is no exception.
The story is narrated by Australian cook and television presenter Andy Allen, with the creative and technical craftsmanship led by Stage One’s Creative and Technical Director, John Kerr.
The display took more than 10,000 hours to construct, with over 200 special paint colours mixed for the scenes, including more than 100 created specifically for Toy Story characters. Even the Christmas trees have their own handmade details, with each one featuring more than 100 individually made cotton balls.

The six windows are colourful, cute and filled with familiar Toy Story characters. There’s plenty for younger children to recognise, and the storyline has a lovely Christmas message that adults will appreciate too.
This year’s display moves away from the traditional handmade puppet style that featured in some previous Myer Christmas Windows, with more emphasis on animated movements and colourful scenes.
While we do miss some of the handmade character details of earlier years, it’s still a fun Christmas display and a lovely Melbourne tradition to share with the kids.

There’s more to this year’s Christmas display than the six windows. Myer has also introduced a free Toy Story Play Zone in the basement of the department store, giving children the chance to enjoy some hands-on activities.
Children can make their own Toy Story Christmas bauble or create a Forky figurine. There are also Toy Story-themed photo opportunities, making it a fun spot to capture a few Christmas memories.
It’s a welcome addition to this year’s display, particularly for families with younger children who enjoy interactive activities.
