If your family has made Disney On Ice an annual winter school holiday tradition like ours, you will be pleased to know that Disney On Ice Presents Magic in the Stars is this year’s latest show, with a refreshed line-up of stories and performances. Despite seeing it every year, it never feels repetitive, and this production is no exception. It combines skillful skating, exciting stunts, aerial acrobatics and impressive special effects to create a magical experience for audiences of all ages.
Presented at Rod Laver Arena from 2–6 July 2026, Magic in the Stars takes families on a journey through some of Disney’s most loved stories. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy guide audiences through adventures featuring Frozen 2, Moana, Encanto, Cars, Toy Story, Aladdin, Raya and the Last Dragon, The Princess and the Frog, Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and Tangled.

One of my favourite additions this year was Frozen 2. I love everything about the Frozen franchise, so hearing the music while watching Elsa, Anna, and, of course, Olaf glide across the ice was a real highlight. The skating, costumes and effects captured the feel of the movie perfectly, and plenty of children were singing along.
The Aladdin segment was another favourite. The Genie brought lots of fun to the ice, but what really stood out were the impressive skating stunts. Watching performers launch off ramps and perform high-speed tricks added plenty of excitement and had younger audience members cheering.

New to Disney On Ice is Raya and the Last Dragon. The aerial performance above the ice added something different to the show and was one of the most impressive routines of the night.
The Cars segment was also very clever. Seeing Lightning McQueen and Mater racing around the ice was well done and quickly became a crowd favourite, especially with younger children.
The Moana performance featured beautiful projections and creative costumes that transformed the arena into the ocean.
Toy Story was another favourite. It was fun seeing all the well-known characters on the ice, especially the oversized Hamm and Rex. A standout moment was Evil Emperor Zurg “attacking” the toys, with large yellow balls launched into the audience, which added a playful, interactive element that the kids really enjoyed.
As always, the production is polished, with colourful costumes, detailed sets and excellent skating throughout.

No Disney On Ice visit is complete without a stop at the merchandise stands, and there is plenty to choose from this year.
There are Disney slushie cup holders featuring characters like Olaf, princesses, Buzz Lightyear, Encanto and Stitch, priced around $23–$25. Small figurines including Belle, Ariel, Elsa, Olaf, Anna and Maui are about $22 each. The Maui light-up Manaiakalani (magical fish hook) is $55, while Disney light-up wands range from $45–$55. Soft toys and princess dolls are around $45, the souvenir book is $24 and the tour tag is $25.
There are also plenty of other items available including bubble wands, Mickey Mouse ears, T-shirts, popcorn buckets and more. If your child has their eye on something specific, it’s worth buying it before the show or during the interval, as popular items can sell out quickly.
If you are driving, the closest parking is at the Melbourne & Olympic Parks car parks, just a short walk from Rod Laver Arena, prices start $26. Public transport is another easy option, with Richmond Station, Jolimont Station and several tram routes all within walking distance.
Disney On Ice Magic in the Stars is another enjoyable production that offers a good mix of classic Disney favourites and newer stories. For our family, the highlights were Frozen 2, Aladdin, Raya and the Last Dragon, Cars and Moana, but there was something to enjoy throughout the entire show.
If you are looking for a family outing these school holidays, Disney On Ice is well worth adding to your list.
