The 2023 South Side Festival will delight, challenge and entertain with a 9-day program of engaging performances, comedy, installations, visual arts and fun for the whole family.
South Side Festival will run from 5 – 14 May 2023, at various locations in Frankston.

Families can explore PLEXUS: an underground expanse of hundreds of colour-changing panels and endless rows of lights. PLEXUS is an immersive, all-encompassing digital monolith that completely envelops guests in an ever-changing light and audio experience.
With activities and treasure hunts, PLEXUS will bring something for all ages and moods.

Embark on a journey of light and imagination in the illuminating interactive installation Sea of Light. With a UV torch as your paintbrush, paint and stencil your own voyage. Steer ships that leave glowing paths of light in their wake as you sail them across the sea floor.

Melbourne Digital Artist LuXvr presents the Electric Garden exclusive for the Southside festival. This free event invites you to experience Frankston’s public spaces where art meets technology in the Metaverse. Within walking distance of the Frankston Arts Centre, you will find eleven geo-located metaverse sites installed with AR augmented reality virtual galleries.

Light with Hope – Unity is a site-specific installation of 77 symbolic lanterns reflecting 77 cultural and ethnic groups living in the City of Frankston.
This artwork creates symbolic miner lamps using traditional bamboo steamers, representing the sharing of ‘dim sum’ dishes of Yum Cha cuisine. The modern safety mesh is used to zone off construction site areas, implying that we are safe and protected.

The winner will be notified on Facebook and must claim their prize within 48 hours. Any prizes that are not claimed within 48 hours may be reallocated to another winner. Open to Australian Residents only. You must be aged 18 years or over to enter. Those who Like our South Side Festival Facebook post, tag a friend they would love to experience SEA OF LIGHT with and follow Kiddiehood on Facebook by midnight Sunday 30 April 2023, will be entered into the competition. The winners will be randomly selected. There are 2 x family passes to win, a family pass is 4 tickets. The family pass can be used on any day between Saturday 6 – Sunday 14 May 2023 (except Monday 8th) between 10 am – 4:30 pm. The prize is non-transferable. In the event that Kiddiehood postpones or varies the competition prize, Kiddiehood will not be liable to any person for any loss, damage or personal injury suffered or sustained as a result of entering the competition.
