Lightscape has arrived at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne

Following the enormous success of Lightscape in the UK and US, this magical after-dark experience that features world-class light installations has arrived at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.

There are several large-scale light installations along the 1.8 km walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Families are guided along the path to explore each installation. You can walk at your own pace, but allow about 90 minutes to enjoy them. There are plenty of toilet stops and a variety of food and drink carts if the kids get hungry.

Here are some of the highlights:

Sea of Light, ITHACA (above). Sea of Light uses thousands of colourful tiny lights synchronised to music that compliment the natural beauty of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.

Flower Lawn, Jigantics (below). Flower Lawn showcases magical giant illuminated flowers stretching into the night sky. This was one of our favourite installations.

Winter Cathedral, Mandy Lights (below). Winter Cathedral is a large-scale installation comprising more than 100,000 tiny LED light globes. Drawing from physical inspiration from traditional arched windows as found in historic churches, Mandy Lights has created an installation that evokes feelings of attraction, warmth, inclusion and a sense of journey.
