Bangarra’s enchanting children’s production, Waru – journey of the small turtle, will make its Melbourne debut at Fairfax Studio, Arts Centre Melbourne from 15 – 19 September 2023. This immersive journey brings Torres Strait Islander culture to life through a contemporary saltwater Lagaw Kazil (Island Children) story, following a resilient green turtle’s return to her birthplace under the starlit Torres Strait skies. As the nesting season begins and a new generation, including the endearing Migi, prepares to emerge, young audiences are invited to embark on a captivating adventure of self-discovery and survival. Recommended for ages 3 – 7 years.

Carnival of the Animals

Step right up and be whisked away by a thrilling circus escapade inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ delightful salute to feathers, fur and fins. Circa’s world-renowned acrobats will tumble, fly, leap and spin their way through the many wondrous worlds of the animal kingdom. This experience is further enriched by the Youth Participation Program, featuring 16 talented young circus performers from Victoria who will rehearse and perform alongside the Circa ensemble. Recommended for ages 3+.

Experience the electrifying sensation of 360 ALL STARS at Bunjil Place this September School Holidays, where an explosive fusion of BMX, basketball, breakdancing, acrobatics, drumming, and more awaits. Having wowed audiences on Broadway, at the Edinburgh Festival, and at the Sydney Opera House, this internationally acclaimed troupe brings workshops and an exciting performance to the stage. These school holidays, the world’s largest Southern Brown Bandicoot comes out of hiding at Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne’s Big Bandicoot Backyard, with free, fun activities and entertainment for all ages and families to enjoy.

There will be arts and science activities (including crafting a baby bandicoot), Southern Brown Bandicoot-inspired performances by award-winning theatre ensemble Born in a Taxi, an interactive guided walk with Southern Brown Bandicoot Outreach Officer, Eilish Roberts and more.
